In this literature review, we study

Activities

In which software engineering activities has opinion mining been applied?

Tools

What publicly available opinion mining tools have been adopted/developed to support these activities?

Evaluation

How often do researchers evaluate the reliability of opinion mining tools when they adopt the tools out-of-the-box?

Comparison

Which opinion mining techniques have been compared in terms of performance and in what contexts?

Datasets

Which datasets are available for performance evaluation of opinion mining techniques in software-related contexts and how are they curated?

Insights

What are the concerns raised or the limitations encountered by researchers when using opinion mining techniques?

Contributions

Identifying Relevant Papers
All the authors participated in identifying the relevant papers. Each paper was labeled by two of the authors.
Papers with conflicted labels are discussed by all of the authors until the agreement is reached.
Reviewing Papers
Each selected primary study are inspected by one of the authors.
Bin Lin double checked the information retrieved by all the authors.
Web App Development and Replication Preparation
The web apps used for paper selection and paper reviewing are developed by Bin Lin.
Paper Writing
All of the authors participated in the writing of the paper.
